Synchronize Owner and Asset Locations

Synchronize Owner and Asset Locations allow synchronization of the asset location with the owner's location. By default, this option is disabled.

Note: When the option “Synchronize Owner and Asset Location” is turned on, and an asset is assigned to an owner, the asset will be automatically moved to that owner’s location. The synchronization will only happen at the time the asset is assigned to an owner and after that, the asset-owner location synchronization will not be maintained. Any transactions performed on this asset after the owner is assigned may result in this asset being moved to a different location. For example, if the asset were to be checked out to a new location when it is checked back in, it isn’t automatically moved back to the location where the owner was located.

To enable this option:

Click on the Settings icon, then select Settings.

Select Synchronize Owner and Asset Locations.

Check the checkbox to enable the Synchronize Owner and Asset Locations option.

Click on Save.

Example:

Navigate to Lookups and select Employee.
Enter the employee's name and specify the location.

Proceed to create a Fixed Asset.
Assign an owner to the Fixed Asset.
Observe that the site and location fields automatically populate with the location previously added for the employee in the lookup screen.
